PAUSE

SELAH = PAUSE

The book of Psalms is where we find this wonderful word. It is fascinating to know that the Psalms are in fact songs. You could say it is Israel's hymnal book. They are beautiful songs. Many of them end with the word SELAH. This word means to PAUSE.

This pause is a reflection of thinking about our Creator. It is the point where we can stop and take a moment to mediate on the God of all creation. The book of Psalms gives us a beautiful description of this.

But how often do we really pause? The cares of life rarely gives us the opportunity to pause. Yet, how important it is for us. Pausing brings us back to center when life throws us off course. Pausing can calm the raging seas that live inside us somedays. Pausing can guard our thought life and tongues when we want to lash out at someone. Pausing can still our hearts to be able to hear from our Beloved. Pausing just settles us.

Today, my prayer for you is this; Find a place where you can PAUSE. Call it a timeout spot, a secret place, a hidden domain. A place where you can PAUSE with God. I promise He will bless your PAUSE.
